The purpose of this study is to test out an 8-week virtual Mindful Self-Compassion group intervention to see how transgender and nonbinary young adults (aged 18-25) like the program and how well they think the individual activities work for them.
The study is approved by the Institutional Review Board at URI and is currently being funded by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH).
The intervention will be conducted by members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Taking part in this research project is voluntary. You don’t have to participate and you can stop at any time.
Participants will be paid for completing study activities.
Live in the United States
Are 18-25 years old
Read, speak, and understand English
Identify as transgender and/or non-binary
Do not have any formal mindfulness or self-compassion training
Do not have a regular mindfulness or meditation practice (15 minutes or more 2x a week or more)
